Learning Outcomes

 Upon successfull completion of this course, the students will be able to;
1) describe macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics of microorganisms that cause infectious diseases and the anatomical structures by using different diagnostic methods,
2) list the  chemical structure of microorganisms, virulence factors and the antigenic properties,
3) explain genetics,variations and the transfer of genetic elements in microorganisms,
4) explain characteristics of chemotherapeutics and disinfectans 
5) apply the antimicrobial suceptibility tests.

 1-  Determine the diagnostic and treatment protocols of the diseases. X
 2-  Define animal rights and animal owner rights and knows the laws and regulations related to veterinary medicine, have the ethical values for veterinary profession and defends the ethical values as necessary. X
 3-  Plan the most appropriate management for animal enterprises, manage the animal enterprises and the enterprises producing food of animal origins.
 4-  Evaluate the productivity among the animal breeds, use hybridization, selection, artificial insemination as necessary.
 5-  Prepare alternatives of husbandry and nutrition for healthy livestock raising in accordance with various animal species, methods of raising and the expected yield.
 6-  Learn the chemical and biological substances that are used in preventive medicine and the purpose of treatment and their production technologies. X
 7-  Check the hyigenic production of animal origin food that are manufactured for human consumption and also the presentation to consumption, and performs the final check.
 8-  Detect and identify the contagious and noncontagious factors causing the diseases in animals. X
 9-  Diagnose every type of animal illness and treat the diagnosed illnesses using all the methods for a physician (interpret the results of the diagnostic methods, drugs or surgical practices)
 10-  In communication with professional collaborators, produce solution to the common problems at the regional and national levels and participate to professional activities to increase his/her veterinary professional knowledge. X
 11-  Follow the updated legislations about veterinary professional services and use them as necessary. X
 12-  Be aware of the issues of environment, veterinary public health, biosecurity and zoonoses. X
 13-  With awareness of the needs of the country and regions, offer the solutions and treatment options in veterinary services by using scientific technique and methods. X
 14-  Distinquish the structural, functional (anatomical, histological, biochemical, etc) and behavioral characteristics of animal species and breeds.
 15-  Effectively use information and communication technologies and at least one computer software.
 16-  Comprehend events, thoughts and principles in the rise and development process of modern Turkey.
 17-  Demonstrate skills and tools necessary to promote life-long learning
