Music Education Master Thesis Programme
Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Second Cycle Degree in Music Education upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

The aim of second cycle program is to help student become an expert in music education by increasing knowledge about their branch and improve their acquisition in a scientific way. This program is also a preliminary preparation for third cycle degree program.

Specific Admission Requirements

It's needed to know students Mehmet Akif Ersoy University graduate education regulations conditions in application and registration grades. General conditions about required applications are announced in related web sites before all applications.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our university have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Second Cycle Degree are to complete (National 21/ECTS 120) credit hours as divided below and to fulfill all other requirements. Credit hours covering (National 21/ECTS 120) compulsory courses and optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.

Profile of The Programme

Since 2002-2003 education and teaching year, in the constitution of Institute of Social Sciences, Fine Arts Education Department, Second and Third Cycle Degree Programs has been proceeding till today. Second and Third Cycle Degree Programs has been going on in the constitution of Institute of Educational Sciences since 2012-2013 education year.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  Approaches the new information in his/her branch in a systematic way and make advanced researches related to his/her branch.
 2-  Contributes to science with an issuable and original study which brings reform to science, develops a new scientific method or apply a known method to a new area.
 3-  Thinks in a creative and critical way; develops new ideas and methods relevant to his/her branch by using the advanced mental processes such as solving problems and making decisions.
 4-  Develops social, scientific and ethic solutions relevant to his/her branch and supports the development of these values in national and international scope.
 5-  Provides social, scientific and ethic values in the stage of collecting, performing and announcing of scientific datas in science of music education.
 6-  Has a command of methods and technics needed in science and art.
 7-  It has an educational program which is known worldwide and in Turkey for its education and teaching quality and which will make research on discussion, analysis and synthesis and will improve music education to higher levels.
 8-  Renovates and questions himself/herself continously and analyses new informations and methods. Beside the contribution to music education, he/she researches and links other branches of instruction.
 9-  Becomes sensible to the society, environment, human being, artistic activities and sport. Trains students who are beneficial to society, hopeful, examiner and inquisitorial.
 10-  Gains advanced level of knowledge in music education and becomes ready to third cycle degree program.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The students who graduate from this programme can work in academical staffs,work as branch teacher in Anatolian Fine Arts and Sports High Schools or as a teacher in primary and secondary education foundation as an experts of music education area.

Access to Further Studies

It is possible to continue doctorate programmes or satisfactoriness in art programmes about area or similar areas for for students who graduated from second cycle.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Each student appreciated with mid -term exam,term work,project,presentation and final exam that is suitable with the requirements of the lessons that they have.

Graduation Requirements

Students graduates from the programme when they get the conditions of the Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Second Cycle Education Regulation, about lessons, continuation ,exams,assessment,thesis and graduation.

Graduates who successfully complete this program;

Students should:

  • successfully complete at least 7 different graduate courses from the following list offered below,
  •  have totally minimum of 21 national credits, (60 ECTS credits, including graduate seminar)
  • take special studies course on the thesis subject, (20 ECTS credits),
  • prepare and defende thesis, (40 ECTS credits),
  • obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 70 on a 100 scale.
