Painting Teacher Education Program
Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a First Cycle Degree in Painting Teacher Education Programme upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of the programme, of the student;To comprehend the field related concepts and relations between concepts pursuant to the competence achieved in secondary education. Benefits from the self-awareness gained, to make use of the creativity and strengths and modifies the weaknesses.To take eager interest in artistic and cultural activities.   

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages. Students must have 185 points from National Placement Exam in order to be able to participate in our special entrance exam.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting First Cycle Degree are to complete (National 163/ 240 Ects) credit hours as diveded below and to fulfill all other requirements.

Profile of The Programme

The Department of Art Teaching (ATD) offers a program of experimental training and education that aims to train creative art teachers who possess developed aesthetic skills and taste, can reflect the knowledge they have gained to society, can follow and interpret their age, and can contribute to the developments in art. The main principles of the department are to communicate the main concepts in art teaching and the improvement of a creative personality through research in the workshop. Experimental studies that help the students to improve their knowledge, skills, scientific thinking and creative abilities are supported with general knowledge, educational formation, trips and observation.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  The students will be able to plan in accordance with teaching and the learning process
 2-  The students will be able to use technological resources in the process of viasual art teaching and the learning process.
 3-  The students will be able to carry out practices for students with special needs and who need special education during the learning and teaching process.
 4-  The students will be able to cooperate with individuals, institutions and corporate entities in connection with the recognition of the arts and the artist.
 5-  The students will be able to benefit from information technologies for profesional progress and communications.
 6-  The students will be able to offer a teacher profile that is in keeping with the modern needs
 7-  The students will be able to plan and execute professional projects and artistic activities that reflect social responsibility.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The occupational profiles of the graduates contain:
• Professional readiness and level of professional adaptibility to conditions and requirements from the practice or basic professional education as the precondition for the follow-up teaching or departmental study.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the first cycle degree programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the second cycle degree programme that can last up to 2 years.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

For present student, general rule of achievement scores ; 40% of midterm exam and 60% of final exam are collected. From note system, the relative evaluation system (known as the bell system) is valid.

Graduation Requirements

Paintig majors are subject to the following sets of graduation requirements:
1. Requirements imposed upon all undergraduate students in the University
2. Requirements established by the Department of Painting Teacher Education.
All of these will be satisfied by completing the requirements in a period of no more than 16 semesters, including semesters at other universities.

Graduates who successfully complete this program;
