Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a First Cycle Degree in upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

* To give the theoretical and practical knowledge about mathematics, calculation and computer sciences,

* To give the knowledge and skills for determining the issues of information and computer sciences and defining them together with choosing and applying the modelling methods,

* To give the knowledge and skills to take an active part in well-disciplined teams, * To keep himself informed of the latest developments about informatics and computer sciences, information and communication technologies professional development as a requisite of professional growth, To become fully aware of the individual, theoretical, social and universal effects of informatics applications; to possess the awareness of the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovativeness.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to higher education through an examination based on Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS). TExam is performed once in a year and regulated by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Applicants are admitted to higher education institution with a combination of the OSS score point and weighted high school grade point avarage. 

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting First Cycle Degree are to complete 240 credit hours as diveded below and to fulfill all other requirements.
a. 231 Credit hours covering 50 compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
b. 9 Credit hours covering 3 optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.
c. The student should pass the language exams decided by the Higher Education Council within the first academic year of his admission.
The student should complete the accredited courses in curriculum which are 240 credit hours. Furthermore the student must do intermship educate at working place during a semester. Maximum study period to receive First Cycle Degree is 7 years.

Profile of The Programme

Management Information Systems department in Bucak Zeliha Tolunay Applied Technology and Business Faculty has been set up with an Official Gazette conclusion of The Council of Ministers, which was published with the number of 26636 at 07/09/2007. On the General Meeting of The Council of Higher Education at 13/03/2008, “Management Information Systems” department was set up in our Faculty. In 2008-2009 academic year, 60 students were admitted to MIS department. In 2009-2010, 80 students were admitted to each departments.In 2009-2010, preparatory class (optional) were opened for MIS department. In 2011-2012, evening education classes were opened for MIS department. 88 students are admitted to the evening education class of MIS department with additional quota. In 2017-2018, a total of 880 students have been educated in MIS department.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The occupational profiles of the graduates contain:
* To be able to create management functions by the help of system software in information network.
* To be able to report the data of information systems the business has.
* To be able to use available and developing programs at a high level.

Access to Further Studies

It is possible for our students to continue a two-year of master program and a four-year of doctoral program at any university having the master and doctoral program of relevant department after their graduation. A graduate takes master degree and phd degree.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

All exams and other activities are graded based on 100 points. The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade, respectively. However, a student who gets a grade below 30 out of 100 is graded as FF. A student obtaining one of the grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (G), and (B) is considered successful in that course. To enter exams, students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”:

a) Enrolment for the course in question,
b) At least 70% attendance of the course,
c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course,
d) Successfully completing practical projects.

Other matters related to learning and exams are given in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”.

Grade conversion is carried out from the 100 grade scale into the Letter grade scale and 4 point grade scale using the table given below for Bachelor’s Degree Programs at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.



*A student with a (DC) or (DD) grade is considered successful if they had a yearly Grade Point Average (GPA) of minimum 2.25 in the given year.
G: Successful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,
K: Unsuccessful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,

Graduation Requirements

There is no final examination or examination period at the end of an academic year, or at the end of the study programme. There is, however, a final examination and examination periods, i.e., normally takes two weeks and starts immediately after at the end of each semester. In addition to that student is required to complete a degree project and final year dissertation, (taken normally in 8th semester), which follows an oral presentation.
