Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Short Cycle Degree in Child Development upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

1 Firstly, take the precautions about health and work safety in the working environment
2 To approve the child development
3 To prepare activities according to the knowledge and pysco-motor development of children
4 To maintain the children to use the Turkish language correctly
5 To approve the society-family-child relationship and maintain family contribution to the activities
6 Planning and applying the drama and animation activities
7 Planning and applying game activities
8 Tracking the nutrition of children
9 Planning and applying music activities
10 Planning and applying activities according to disabled children
11 Planning and applying science and nature activities
12 Planning and applying free-time activities
13 Using correct communication technics in human relations
14 The corresct use and maintenance of appliances, materials and documents in the study field
15 Contribute to the professional in-service trainings, track the technological developments, and has the ability to follow up and usage of these

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages.(www.osym.gov.tr)

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Short Cycle Degree are to complete 91 national and 120 ECTS credit hours as diveded below and to fulfill all other requirements.
a)(73) national credit hours covering (30) compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
b)(18) national credit hours covering (7) optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.

Profile of The Programme

The first aim of the child development programme is to make children grow who has information and ability to development in preschool education and private education foundations children clinics. This programme also makes the children to develop their abilities for music,art,drama,gymnastic and using computers.they can prepare subject cards,consept toys and puppets which provide them to make their time more enjoyable.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  To define and explain general concepts in Child Development.
 2-  To inform knowledge about the classical and modern theories about Child Development, and their differences and relationship.
 3-  To be able to conceptualize, analyze, and evaluate events and cases in the field of child development using basic knowledge and skills.
 4-  To explains the developmental characteristics and learning methods and techniques of normally developing children and children with a need of special education.
 5-  To explain the relationship between the importance, The purposes and principles of pre-school education.
 6-  To undertake individual and group responsibility in order to solve nonforeseen complex problems and issues which are confronted in application process.
 7-  Is aware of childhood diseases and takes measures aimed at protecting child health.
 8-  Plans, creates and implements tools for class management and educative toys.
 9-  Examines publications prepared for children, follows childrens literature and media aimed at children.
 10-  Uses computer software and information and communication technologies as required by the field, implements computer-supported activities.
 11-  Art and art education in the development of pre-school children to grasp their impact on children's development.
 12-  On the basic principles of first aid and basic life support to gain qualifications
 13-  Takes precautions against child neglect and abuse, follows practices on childrens rights and protection and cooperates.
 14-  To maintain a positive attitude towards lifelong learning.
 15-  To be act upon democracy, human rights, social, scientific and professional ethics.
 16-  To have awareness of environment and job security.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduated student can work in kindergardens,day-care centers, hospitals’ child services, play rooms and rehabilitation centers.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the short cycle degree programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the first cycle degree programme with the exam of DGS.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester s/he is enrolled for. Students who have not attended at least 40% of theoretical courses and 30% of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. Once the student fulfilles the attendance requirements in theoretical courses, no attendance is required if the course is repeated later.
Examinations are generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to conduct the exam in the form of an oral exam, project or assignment on condition that s/he states it on the course information form (syllabus). Examinations are arranged and conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within 1 (0ne) day after the final examinations are over.

Graduation Requirements

To be succesfull from all the courses required for graduation within the time period defined in the related regulation and to finish the study programme with the GPA of at least 2.00
