Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Short Cycle Degree in Electic upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Short Cycle Degree

Objectives

At the end of the programme the student will;
•have good knowledge of Principles of Atatürk and Recent Turkish History,
•have good knowledge of technical mathematics,
•be able to learn and show knowledge in electrical field independently, have the ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data,
•be well versed in basic computer sciences and requiremens of profession such as software(Windows, Office) and hardware,
•have the knowledge of material, static, mechanic flows and magnetism in topics
•have understanding of the basic electrical equations and rules, analyze DC electrical circuits and use the circuit theorems to solve possible problems, recognize AC circuit equipments and master their specifications,
•have knowledge of electrical machineries’ structure, working principles and control methods,
•interpret the electrical calculation elements and their conversions and solve basic problems, be acknowledged about the structures, working principles and connection rules of electrical measurement equipments,
•design and simulate electrical circuits by CAD programs, realize electrical plans and projects’ drawings,
•have an understanding of the interior and outdoor illumination techniques, calculations and draw the projects,
•design, analyze and practice control systems by PLC,
•having basic knowledge about the production and conduction of electrical energy, having basic knowledge of electrical energy distribution, control and protection,
•have an understanding of semi-conductors, diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, passive and active circuit elements and rectifiers, get knowledge about power electronics’ basic rules and application areas,
•recognize the electrical problems and solve them by using the theory captured by experiment and application, keep up with the new technologies about electricity and to apply them when needed.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students\' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (OSS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages. ÖSYM

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Short Cycle Degree are to complete (120 ECTS) credit hours as listed below and to fulfill all other requirements.
a. (104 ECTS) Credit hours covering (21) compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
b. (16 ECTS) Credit hours covering (4) optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.

Profile of The Programme

The basic orientation of this programme is to train specialists in the field of electric by forming their basic competences in professional, technical and communicative subjects. The study contains the basic courses of electric together with preparing the students for the first cycle degree. The professional knowledge, skills and attitudes gained during the study form basic competences for performing as a technician.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The occupational profiles of the graduates contain:
•Professional readiness and level of professional adaptibility to conditions and requirements from the practice or basic professional education as the precondition for the follow-up technician in industry.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the short cycle degree programme, it is possible for the students to continue further studies in the first cycle degree programme on condition that they succeed in Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

In the evaluation of course grading, depending on the type of the course, oral exams, homeworks, projects or laboratory works are taken into consideration. As for the assesment of the examinations; one midterm exam and/or other studies which take the place of mid-term exam has the contribution of 40% and the contribution of the final exam to the course grade is 60%. The research projects in the students\'own fields are conducted by the teaching staff for the students\' own development. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within one day after the final examinations are over.

Graduation Requirements

The requirements to graduate from Electric programme are based on the following conditions:
*to be succesfull from all the courses required for graduation within the time period defined in the related regulation and to finish the study programme with the GPA of at least 2.00
