Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a First Cycle Degree in Turkish Language Teacher Education Programme upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Level of Qualification

First Cycle Degree

Department of Turkish Language aims to educate teachers having teaching profession and the abiliity for teaching, reading, listening, speaking and writing skills of elementary students’ basic knowledge and qualifications to develop these skills, knowledge and skills about the Ottoman Turkish and writing, knowledge of Turkish literature, Turkish grammar knowledge and who taught the Turkish grammar.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting First Cycle Degree are to complete credit hours as diveded below and to fulfill all other requirements.
1- (133) Credit hours covering (54) compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
2- (12) Credit hours covering (5) optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.
3- Maximum study period to receive Second Cycle Degree is 7 years.

Profile of The Programme

A Turkish language education section's aim, the Turkish language will give elemantary schools lessons at the ability and a Turkish language teacher at the rigging. Aimed to this aim while becoming lessons at your area, an expert education organs The one at your pied last developments theoretical while followed and while benefitted from the contemporaneous technology and is managed while becoming practical. A Turkish language education section started to provide education, within the body of Süleyman Demirel University, Education Faculty in 1997 to educate qualified Turkish language education teachers. The program,  once providing education under the name Turkish teaching program, with the foundation of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in 2006. There five assisiocate professors and two research assistant at our program. There are totally  namely four normal education and three evening education classes, at our department. 

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  To have know academically about description of language, basic concepts of grammar and linguistics, features of World languages, structural and historical features of Turkish language, sound and its changes, suffix and ending, word groups, sentence and its components, sentence forms and types.
 2-  To have know academically Literature knowledge and theories, Kokturk and Uyghur, Classic, Mystic, Folk and New Literature, World literature.
 3-  To be well-informed and gain the necessary skills regarding the methods and tecniques in teaching the secondary school learners the Turkish language and literature and the skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing.
 4-  To be well informed in the essential topics in teching profession such as classroom management, testing and evaluation, educational psychology, technology and material use, teaching principles and methods, and about the laws that regulade the activities in educational institutions.
 5-  To be able to show that they can continue to work intepentently at a higher level.
 6-  To be able to make decisions buy taking responsibilities in the complex professional activity condition.
 7-  To be able to use Turkish educations knowledge and To have a foreing gramer with the aim of communicating with co-worker.
 8-  To have the ability to use communicating tecnology, data processing, computers hardware and software, at the required level of Turkish education.
 9-  To have to look after social, scientific and ethic values stages; the addition, explication and expositon of data releated Turkish education.
 10-  To have to cooperate with various institutions and organizations of opinion about the competence of Ataturk and the Turkish language and national values, reflecting the views of families in the regulation of specific activities.
 11-  To have know Turkish teaching activities, teaching methods and techniques to adapt to students with special needs and special educational needs.
 12-  In cooperation with the families and colleagues in the habit of reading a book on the dissemination of in-school and extra-curricular activities will have the competence to regulate.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Professional readiness and level of professional adaptibility to conditions and requirements from the practice or basic professional education as the precondition for the follow-up teaching or departmental study of Turkish teaching.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the first cycle degree programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the second cycle degree programme that can last up to 2 years.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

All exams and other activities are graded based on 100 points. The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade, respectively. However, a student who gets a grade below 30 out of 100 is graded as FF. A student obtaining one of the grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (G), and (B) is considered successful in that course. To enter exams, students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”:

a) Enrolment for the course in question, 

b) At least 70% attendance of the course, 

c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course, 

d) Successfully completing practical projects. 

Other matters related to learning and exams are given in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”.


Grade conversion is carried out from the 100 grade scale into the Letter grade scale and 4 point grade scale using the table given below for Bachelor’s Degree Programs at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.

Graduation Requirements
