Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a First Cycle degree in Computer and Instructional Technologies Teaching Program upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation

Objectives

Training teachers are capable about using computer hardware, operation systems, computer networks and programming languages. Training teachers are capable about following actual educational needs and work as a computer and instructional technologies teacher in K12 schools. Training teachers are capable about writing software for learning management and designing computer assisted learning environments in effective way

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection andPlacement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting First Cycle Degree are to complete 240 credit hours and to fulfill all other requirements

Profile of The Programme

The main goal of the programme Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department is to provide academic perspective in Computer and Instructional Technologies, to determine problems in the field, to raise future academicians, and to carry out applied scientific studies about instructional design and computer education. This programme intends to include all kinds of practical and theoretical aspects of the field of study and it aims to equip students with theoretical and practical background on instructional technology so that they can serve as efficient K-12 computer teachers, instructional technologists and designers who can analyze learning needs, design instruction, develop training materials, implement training and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional products. The aim of this department is to train professional staff which will have knowledge and ability to be able to make application in educational technology. Computer Education and Instructional Technologies have a 4 year education with new approaches at teacher education and education. Aim of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies department is to develop teachers with following current technologies about instructional technologies, and applying them to learning environment, using different type of assessments methods, arranging teaching activities, using different learning methods and strategies to education, supporting other teachers using computer and instructional technologies.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  Define concepts about education technology and teaching profession, with scientificperspective
 2-  Acquire learning to learn, self control, critical thinking, creative thinking skills and perform independent studies related to study field
 3-  Use software and hardware relates to computer and communication technologies in courses and support other teachers
 4-  Produce solutions when faced with unexpected and complicated cases in applications of education technologies and teaching professions
 5-  Show abilities of foreign language skills about education technologies, teaching professions for the purpose of communicating other colleagues.
 6-  Plan learning and teaching processes requiring students' active participation on the basis of students’ interests, wishes, needs, social, cultural and socio-economic status of the students' families and environment.
 7-  Show positive atittudes about lifelong learning
 8-  Prepare activities about field instruction and designs proper instructional materials
 9-  Choose essential instructional technologies for educational activities
 10-  Transfer ethical issues to education process
 11-  Develop awareness regarding total quality management
 12-  Conduct a study following all stages of scientific research processes effectively
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates  from of  Computer  Education and Instructional Technologies department can work at private and state schools at Ministry of Education as teacher, technology consultant, exam assessment expert. Graduates are also work universities at related programmes. Graduates can work these areas: Information System Manager, Education Consultant, Instructional Technology Expert, Academician at Information Technology and Education field, Multimedia and Graphics Designer

Access to Further Studies

After completing the first cycle degree programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the second cycle degree programme that can last up to 2 years. The graduates are awarded as Master title. Successful second cycle degree holders can enlist to the third cycle degree programmes.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

All exams and other activities are graded based on 100 points. The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade, respectively. However, a student who gets a grade below 30 out of 100 is graded as FF. A student obtaining one of the grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (G), and (B) is considered successful in that course. To enter exams, students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”:

a) Enrolment for the course in question, 
b) At least 70% attendance of the course, 
c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course, 
d) Successfully completing practical projects. 
Other matters related to learning and exams are given in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”.

Grade conversion is carried out from the 100 grade scale into the Letter grade scale and 4 point grade scale using the table given below for Bachelor’s Degree Programs at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.

*A student with a (DC) or (DD) grade is considered successful if they had a yearly Grade Point Average (GPA) of minimum 2.25 in the given year.

K: Unsuccessful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,
M: Exempt,
B: Successful.

Graduation Requirements

Teaching programs majors are subject to the following sets of graduation requirements:
1.Requirements imposed upon all undergraduate students in the University
2.Requirements for all students in the Education Faculty.
All of these will be satisfied by completing the requirements in a period of no more than 14 semesters, including semesters at other universities.
