Objectives

The department of social work aims to equip its students with social work knowledge both theoritical and practical. Our department provides the contributions on theories and their applications in local, national and international levels of social sciences with researches and publications in the field of social work.

Specific Admission Requirements

The student admission is being organized by Exam Grades of Student Selection and Placement Center (SSPC) fort his department.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students should complete 240 ECTS credit hours in order to receive Bachelor's degree. Maximum study period to receive Bachelor's degree is 7 years.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  1. Knowledge of social work application fields (health, education, social security, civil society, local government etc.)
 2-  2. Knowledge of social work theories (system, ecology, strengthening approaches etc.)
 3-  3. Knowledge of human development and social environment
 4-  4. Knowledge of communication skills (with individuals, families, groups and different social groups)
 5-  5. Knowledge of management and management skills ( management of public and private social service agencies and institutes)
 6-  6. Knowledge of social work research methods and techniques
 7-  7. Knowledge of professional ethics, principles and values
 8-  8. Knowledge of social work application with different client groups
 9-  9. Ability to determine and gather appropriate data for social visits, evaluation and reporting
 10-  10. Ability to evaluate research results and professional literatüre
 11-  11. Graduates who successfully complete this programme have got knowledge of English (Level B1)
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The graduates have opportunities to be employed as professionals or administer in various social work institutions both in public and in private and non-governmental field. They may also be employed as academic personel in the relevant departments of universities.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the Bachelor's degree program, it is possible to continue further studies in the second cycle degree programmes.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester she/he is enrolled for. For each course, one midterm is done at least. Examinations are conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. If a student does not take midterm exam, she/he takes FF. If a studenst does not fulfill the attendance obligation or she/he fails the application, she/he takes FE. The contribution of midterm on grade is 40 %, final exam's is 60 %. While students that take AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are successful, those took K, ED, EE, FE and FF are unsuccessful. Locations and dates of midterm and final exams will be announced fifteen days before by relevant unit.Students who have not attended at least 70 % of theoretical courses and 80 % of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within make-up exams week after the final examinations are over. 

Graduation Requirements

Students of Public Administration Department are must to complete 240 ECTS credits and all of these will be satisfied by completing the requirements in a period of no more than 14 semesters.
