Qualification Awarded

The students who have successfully completed all requirements for graduation and curriculum conditions graduate with a Bachelor's degree in the field of “Nursing”.

Objectives

Our aim is to educate nurse graduates who use science as a base, help individual, family and society health in the light of technological developments, detect the necessities of patient people, plan, practice and evaluate the care in parallel with vocational standards and ethic codes, and use effectively the roles of education, research, leadership and consultancy as a member of health team.

Specific Admission Requirements

The students, with a high school diploma, showing particular success in the examinations conducted by the Republic of Turkey Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) or in certain international exams accepted by OSYM are placed by OSYM considering the order of choice and success.

Students, who are eligible to be a student at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, register with the specified documents within the announced time.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

In order to be accepted from a vocational school (short cycle), student must pass the vertical transfer examination held by OSYM (DGS exam) and succeed the required base scores of related bachelor (first cycle) program. The vertical transfers of Vocational High School graduates to the Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bachelor’s degree programs are applied by the Faculty Administrative Committee according to the provisions of the regulations published on the official gazette dated 29.07.2011 and numbered 28009 “Regulations on Changes in Regulations about Vocational High Schools and Open Education Associate Programs Graduates’ Attending Bachelors Degree Level Education”.

Lateral transfer can be done among the programs and the units of the Faculties, High Schools and Vocational High Schools of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. Recognition of prior learning, vertical and lateral transfers, and credit transfers determined by the Board of Higher Education Regulation number 27561 published in Official Gazette dated 24.04.2010 (Regulations on Recognition of Transfers among the Short Cycle and First Cycle Degree Programs, Double Majors, and Second Majors, and Credit Transfers among Institutions).

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students, who complete a total of 196 local course credits or 240 ECTS credits successfully and have at least 2.00 grade point average out of 4.00, are eligible for the bachelor's degree. The maximum time allowed to complete their undergraduate education is seven years.

Profile of The Programme


Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bucak Health School was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers 2012/3449 with the publication of the Official Gazette dated 05 August 2012 and numbered 28375. Teaching will begin with the 1st and 2nd curriculums of the Nursing Department in the 2016-2017 academic year. There are 3 faculty members and 2 lecturers in Nursing Department without High School. The normal period of undergraduate study is 4 academic years and 8 semesters. During undergraduate programs, students must take minimum 240 ECTS credits in order to be eligible for graduation.

The profile of the Nursing Program is to educate nurses who serve, in national and international levels, the healthy/ill people, family and society, giving preventive, curative and rehabilitating healthcare under the light of evidence-based practices; integrate the elements of academic research; take roles of an instructor, implementer, manager, and researcher. Nursing Program has basic courses such as Fundamental Medicine, Natural Science and Social Science, Nursing Science and Applied Nursing. In the Applied Nursing Courses, students first practice on models to improve themselves in technical laboratories and then perform their applied education in the areas such as hospitals, clinics and some public institutions with the supervision of the instructors. In the last year just before graduation, they get prepared for nursing by undergoing an intern education.

After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The students who graduate from the School of Health have the opportunity to work in public or private hospitals. They also work in family health centers, dialysis centers, and rehabilitation centers, school health nursing in educational institutions, labor health nursing in industry and in factories, in institutions offering elderly care and home care services and also in every field linked with human.

Access to Further Studies

Upon successful completion of bachelor’s degree, they have the opportunity to study for a master’s and doctorate degree. 
A master’s program can be studied in different areas (basic medical sciences, health administration, education, science, etc.). 

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

The students are subjected to various evaluation methods such as exam(s), homework, project(s), practice(s) and final exam. The evaluation methods include: written exam(s), true-false test(s), short-answered test(s), multiple-choice test(s), oral exam(s), homework, project(s), and performance duties (application / laboratory / seminar / presentation / term paper / dissertation). This part is explained in detail on the individual course information page for each course.

All exams and other activities are graded based on 100 points. The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade, respectively.  A student obtaining one of the grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (G), and (B) is considered successful in that course. To enter exams, students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”:

a) Enrolment for the course in question,

b) At least 70% attendance of the course,

c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course,

d) Successfully completing practical projects.

Other matters related to learning and exams are given in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”.

Grade conversion is carried out from the 100 grade scale into the Letter grade scale and 4 point grade scale using the table given below for Bachelor’s Degree Programs at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.

*A student with a (DC) or (DD) grade is considered successful if they had a yearly Grade Point Average (GPA) of minimum 2.00 in the given year.

G: Successful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,

K: Unsuccessful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,

M: Exempt,

B: Successful

The students, whose grade point average is less than 1.80, connot take course from upper grade.

Graduation Requirements
