Veterinary Histology and Embryology Master Degree Programme
Qualification Awarded

Students who successfully complete the thesis, courses and seminars, will be awarded "Master of Degree in Veterinary Histology and Embryology".

Objectives

The aim of the Third Cycle Degree Programme is not only to prepare qualified and wise graduates according to the needs of our country but also to increase the number of teaching staff and specialists that are the needs of the universities. With this aim, its main orientation is; to train scientists who have scientific thinking ability, knowledge and research skills.

Specific Admission Requirements

The graduates of the Veterinary Faculty, the Dentistry Faculty, the Faculty of Medicine, the Science Faculty Department of Biology and the Nursing College can apply to the Veterinary Parasitology Master Degree Program.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Veterinary Histology and Embryology Second Cycle Degree Programme students who are registered with vertical transfer have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first week of their registration semester.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Animal Science Second Cycle Degree Programme are to complete 120 ECTS credit hours including at least seven courses the credit of which is above 21 National Credits, a seminar and thesis study.

Students should:

successfully complete at least 7 different graduate courses from the following list offered below,  have totally minimum of 21 national credits (60 ECTS credits, including graduate seminar), take special studies course (with supervisorship) on the thesis subject (10 ECTS credits for each semester), prepare and defende thesis,
obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 70 on a 100 scale.
Profile of The Programme

Mehmet  Akif Ersoy University Health Sciences Institute of Histology and Embryology (Veterinary, Thesis) Department was established in 2012 and received its first students in the academic year 2012-2013. One master student currently registered in the program. Three faculty staff (2 Prof. Dr., 1 Assoc. Prof. Dr. ) are working in the Histology and Embryology (veterinary) Department as a full-time.

This program has undertaken the mission to training experts have theoretical and practice knowledge and laboratory skills in the field of veterinary Histology and Embryology. The program includes basic courses about Veterinary Histology and Embryology for solving problems. Learned during the training period, the knowledge, skills and behavior, creates the basic skills to work in Histology and Embryology laboratories.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  Raises the knowledge and the experiment about academic writing
 2-  Describe preparing a seminer
 3-  Describe the histochemical methods, microscopy techniques, and the histological techniques
 4-  Describe histology of cells, tissues, organs and systems
 5-  Describe the embriyological development of the organs and the systems.
 6-  Describe the embriyological development of the organs and the systems.
 7-  Put through knowledge and skill about writing a thesis
 8-  Use statistical methods in scientific research
 9-  Obtain literature neccessary for scientific research
 10-  Posses knowledge relation to development and types of placenta
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

At the end of Veterinary Histology and Embriology Programme Secund Cycle Degree Programme, the students become specialist in Department of Histology and Embryology and they can work in the universities or in private sector.

Access to Further Studies

It is possible for the secund cycle programme students to continue their academic career.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Examinations are composed of one mid-term and one final exam. In order a student to take the final exam, s/he should attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies. The examinations can be in written form, oral form, written-application form, oral-application form or project form. The course grade is calculated by adding 40% of mid-term grade to the 60% of the final exam. To be accepted as successful from the course, the second cycle degree students should get at least 70(CC) out of 100. The final exam results should be 70 (CC) in order to pass the course.
