Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Second Cycle Degree in Biology upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

At the end of the program the student will be able to apply methods and techniqıes in the specific field and gain competence necessary to continue their PhD study.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to master programme (non-thesis) is based on the following requirements:
1. Students must have a bachelor’s degree diploma or a diploma obtained from faculty or college at abroad and accepted by HEC (Higher Education Council).
2. Students must get at least 55 points (which is appropriate for the programme) from ALES or equivalent of this score from GRE or GMAT.
3. For the placement of canditates to the applied programme, which is calculated by summing 50 % of ALES, 50 % of General Point Average score.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of Masters Degree Program in Biology have the right to can request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first week of their registration year. Students in period of the thesis can not request the transfer.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Second Cycle Degree are to complete (21) credit hours as diveded below and to fulfill all other requirements. Maximum study period to receive Second Cycle Degree is 3 years.

Profile of The Programme

The main purpose of this programme is to prepare a specialist in Biology and to form their basic competences in theory and practice in the field of Biology. The study contains the classes for completion of basic knowledge from graduate education, thus provides a preparatory phase for doctoral education. The above mentioned competences provides full qualification of the intructor at scientific institutions

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  Graduates who successfully complete this program; 1 improves and deepens his/her knowledge at an expert level, makes analyzes and concludes by using statistical methods in the same or in a similar area depending on the competences acquired during first level education, 2 based on the abilities that will be gained during the second level education, develops and deepens the current advanced level of knowledge to a higher level by an original approach/research and reaches to genuine descriptions that will bring new understandings to the area, 3 comprehends the multidisciplinary interrelations and reaches to genuine results by using the expert level of knowledge during conducting analysis, synthesis and drawing conclusion in the process of evaluation of new and complicated ideas, 4 develops an original method, concept, idea, and/or application in the area or advances an already existing idea, method, concept or application to a different area and investigates on an original subje

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

At the end of their study period at the graduate level, the students become specialist in their fields and they can work in the universities as academicians or in private sector.

Access to Further Studies

After graduate education, it is possible to continue of students their doctoral studies.Graduates receive the degree of Master (MSc).

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars and other studies of the semester s/he is enrolled for. Students who have not attended at least 30% of theoretical courses are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. Once the student fulfilles the attendance requirements in theoretical courses, no attendance is required if the course is repeated later.
The Mid-term and Final Examinations are generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to conduct the exam in the form of an oral exam, project or assignment on condition that s/he states it on the course information form (syllabus). Examinations are arranged and conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. Make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within three days after the final examinations are over.
A course final grade calculation, with 40% of midterm exams, 60% calculate of final exam is determined. To be successful from a course, the final exam score must be at least 70 and the total score at the end of the term must be at least 70 (CC ) which is passing grade.

Graduation Requirements

Student is subject to the following graduation requirements:
1.To be succesful in the elective and compulsory courses defined in the Biology curriculum which is 60 ECTS.
2.To graduate from the program, GPA must be at least 2.0 (CC).
