Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Second Cycle Degree upon succesful of all the requirments in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements.

Objectives

The aim of the Second Cycle Degree Programme in is not only to prepare qualified and wise graduates according to the needs of our country but also to increase the number of teaching staff and specialists that are the needs of the universities. With this aim, its main orientation is; to train scientists who have scientific thinking ability, knowledge and research skills.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students with a first cycle degree from Veterinary Faculty are accepted to Second Cycle Degree Programs. To apply for applying for admission to the Second Cycle Degree in Surgery, the prospective student should get at least 55 from (ALES) in the grade category that s/he is applying for should get the equivalent grade from GRE, GMAT. In addition, the prospective student should get one of the exams from ÜDS or KPDS (national foreign language exams)

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Second Cycle Degree Programme students who are registered with vertical transfer have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first week of their registration semester.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Second Cycle Degree Programme in Veterinary Surgery are to complete 120 ECTS credit hours including at least seven courses the credit of which is above 21 National Credits, a seminar and thesis study.

Profile of The Programme


Mehmet  Akif Ersoy University Health Sciences Institute of Parasitology (Veterinary, Thesis) Department was established in 2006 and received its first students in the academic year 208-2009. One student have graduated from our department. In the Department 1 Prof. Dr., 1 Assoc. Prof. and 1 Assist Prof. are working as lecturer and researcher. Department have routine diagnosis laboratory and in addition to that there are serology and PCR units for research purposes. There are sufficient books and periodicals in the department library for research and educations. Our department supports faculty clinics to make parasitological diagnosis, parasite identification, prepare seminars up to date subjects to induce animal health and productions.

After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

At the end of Second Cycle Degree Programme, the students become specialist in Veterinary Surgery and they can work in the universities or in private sector.

Access to Further Studies

It is possible for the Second Cycle Programme students to continue their third cycle education after second cycle degree.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Examinations are composed of one mid-term and one final exam. In order a student to take the final exam, s/he should attend at least 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies. The examinations can be in written form, oral form, written-application form, oral-application form or project form. The course grade is calculated by adding 40% of mid-term grade to the 60% of the final exam. To be accepted as successful from the course, the second cycle degree students should get at least 70(CC) out of 100. The final exam results should be 70 (CC) in order to pass the course.

Graduation Requirements

An important note: Students who is in coursework (first and second semesters); in addition to compulsory courses, by choosing from the existing pool of elective courses, in order to complete the 30 ECTS per semester, will complete the remaining credits.
