Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a First Cycle Degree in Turkish Language Teacher Education Programme upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

First Cycle Degree

Objectives
Department of Turkish Language aims to educate teachers having teaching profession and the abiliity for teaching, reading, listening, speaking and writing skills of elementary students’ basic knowledge and qualifications to develop these skills, knowledge and skills about the Ottoman Turkish and writing, knowledge of Turkish literature, Turkish grammar knowledge and who taught the Turkish grammar.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting First Cycle Degree are to complete credit hours as diveded below and to fulfill all other requirements.
1- (133) Credit hours covering (54) compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
2- (12) Credit hours covering (5) optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.
3- Maximum study period to receive Second Cycle Degree is 7 years.

Profile of The Programme

A Turkish language education section's aim, the Turkish language will give elemantary schools lessons at the ability and a Turkish language teacher at the rigging. Aimed to this aim while becoming lessons at your area, an expert education organs The one at your pied last developments theoretical while followed and while benefitted from the contemporaneous technology and is managed while becoming practical. A Turkish language education section started to provide education, within the body of Süleyman Demirel University, Education Faculty in 1997 to educate qualified Turkish language education teachers. The program,  once providing education under the name Turkish teaching program, with the foundation of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in 2006. There five assisiocate professors and two research assistant at our program. There are totally  namely four normal education and three evening education classes, at our department. 

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  Having enough academic information about: description of the language, functions of language, grammar and basic concepts of the science of language, Qualifications of world languages, place of Turkish language among these languages, historical periods of Turkish language, sound and sound events, word attachments, word derivation paths, phrases, sentences, sentence elements, sentence types.
 2-  To have adequate academic knowledge about theories of literature, Göktürk and Uyghur literatures, Divan literature, Sufi and folk literature, the new Turkish literature, world literature.
 3-  To have relevant knowledge and skills about Turkish language and literature; about the transfer and application of teaching methods and techniques, which is necessary at reading listening, speaking and writing areas to primary school education II. grade level of students.
 4-  To have adequate knowledge and skills, which are necessary for the teaching profession, at the areas such as classroom management, assessment and evaluation, educational psychology, use of technology and materials, teaching principles and methods, laws and regulations governing the activities of educational institutions.
 5-  Uses Turkish, right, well and according to the effective speech rules, in a way which would allow better communication and understanding, and in an aesthetic manner. Has enough information about Turkey s Turkish sound science, the shape of science, syntax, semantics, and uses this information.
 6-  Possesses the knowledge of Turkish language teaching curriculum, teaching strategies, methods and techniques together with measurement and evaluation.
 7-  Conceptualizes the event and phenomena pertaining to Turkish language teaching, performs analyses with scientific methods and techniques, interprets and evaluates the data.
 8-  Defines issues of Turkish language teaching, analyzes them, develops solution offers pursuant to proofs and researches.
 9-  Practices the optimum strategies, methods and techniques in deference to the developmental characteristics and individual differences of pupils together with the characteristics and acquirements of the subject area.
 10-  Becomes conscious of the national and universal consideration points denoted in National Education Basic Law.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Professional readiness and level of professional adaptibility to conditions and requirements from the practice or basic professional education as the precondition for the follow-up teaching or departmental study of Turkish teaching.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the first cycle degree programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the second cycle degree programme that can last up to 2 years.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

All exams and other activities are graded based on 100 points. The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade, respectively. However, a student who gets a grade below 30 out of 100 is graded as FF. A student obtaining one of the grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (G), and (B) is considered successful in that course. To enter exams, students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”:

a) Enrolment for the course in question, 

b) At least 70% attendance of the course, 

c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course, 

d) Successfully completing practical projects. 

Other matters related to learning and exams are given in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”.

 

Grade conversion is carried out from the 100 grade scale into the Letter grade scale and 4 point grade scale using the table given below for Bachelor’s Degree Programs at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.

*A student with a (DC) or (DD) grade is considered successful if they had a yearly Grade Point Average (GPA) of minimum 2.25 in the given year.

K: Unsuccessful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,

M: Exempt,

B: Successful.

Graduation Requirements
