Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Short Cycle Degree in Office Management and Secretarial upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

At the end of the programme, the student;
1.can perform the office services of an institution effectively,<,
2.plans administrative operations as an administrative assistant,
3.organize the daily schedule of the manager or managers,
4. plans the national or international organizations hosted by the employer institution, carries out tasks like making reservations, announcements, welcoming and accommodation,
5.can carry out corporate communication effectively as an employee working in the center of the institution,
6.can organize the internal meetings, (selection and arrangement of the meeting place, announcing the meeting to the attendants, presenting the related document to the managers and attendants before meetings, preparing the document and information the manager will possibly need, preparing the meeting minutes, announcing the decisions to the attendants, etc.),
7.can use the contemporary office technology and equipment easily.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Transition to Higher Education Exam(YGS). The examination is held once a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages. Technical High School graduates can register without an exam by the law 4702.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Second Cycle Degree are to complete 120 ECTS credit hours as divided below and to fulfill all other requirements
a.(95) ECTS Credit hours covering (28) compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum. b.(25) ECTS Credit hours covering (10) elective courses as detailed in the curriculum.
c.Maximum study period to receive Short Cycle Degree is 4 years.

Profile of The Programme

The purpose of this program is to train members of profession who can organize the administrative operations of public and private managers and carry out their office services and who are competent and knowledgeable enough to keep up with the changing administrative mentality and flow of work. The programme includes fundamental vocational courses such as Office of Management and Executive Assistant, Keyboard Techniques, Effective Speech, Protocol and Rules of Social Behavior, Business Correspondence, Filing, Professional Foreign Language, Organizational Behavior, Industrial Psychology, Crisis and Stress Management, Public Relations, Communications, Human Resources Management the Basic Law together with preparing the students for furthering the education with a first cycle degree. Knowledge, skills and behaviors acquired during the training period forms the basic abilities for profession in the field of Office of Management and Executive Assistant as secretaries in public or private institutions, administrative assistants or office managers.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The occupational profiles of the graduates contain: Members of profession who can comprehend the changing business and administration mentality, who is aware of the expectancies arising out of this change, who is competent enough to fulfill the expectancies in question, who is responsible without the need of getting orders, who can use initiatives when needed, well versed in office technology and who has outstanding communicative skills.

Access to Further Studies

After learning Associate Degree, students can continue their undergraduate programs of universities with DGS exam.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

In the evaluation of course grading, depending on the type of the course, oral exams, homeworks, projects or laboratory works are taken into consideration. As for the assesment of the examinations; one midterm exam and/or other studies which take the place of mid-term exam has the contribution of 40% and the contribution of the final exam to the course grade is 60%. The research projects in the students'own fields are conducted by the teaching staff for the students' own development. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within one day after the final examinations are over.

Graduation Requirements

The requirements to graduate from Office Management and Secretarial Training Program are based on the following conditions:
* To be successful from all the courses required for graduation within the time period defined in the related regulation and to finish the study programme with the GPA of at least 2.00
