Accounting and Tax Applications
Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Short Cycle Degree in Accounting and Data Applications upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

1 To be skilled and have information about a field which is supported with application equipments and courses upper level of secondary education and to show to be equipped with the basic concepts of accounting
2 To define and to gather needed data to solve problems of accounting that is completely defined, to denote to have access to requisite theoretic information, handcraft and ideational skill on practical applications for the companies
3 To be able to communicate with colleagues, superiors and people and groups which he gives service, in applications concerning accounting
4 To denote to learn independently in fields concerning accounting and to be able to perform that had been learnt
5 To denote that determine contingency problems and gain ability for solution seeking
6 To evaluate and control the performances of the staff working in his responsibility objectively
7 To have the sufficient knowledge of foreign language in the field of accounting
8 To be able to use office software, internet technology in conjunction with knowledge of computer usage in the field of accounting
9 To possess knowledge and awareness about social responsibility, professional ethics and social security rights in the field of accounting
10 To possess knowledge and awareness about workplace safety and environmental protection in the field of accounting
11 To possess awareness in the matter of Ataturk´s principles and informed in the field of history of reforms

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once in a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages.(www.osym.gov.tr)

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

The requirements for getting Short Cycle Degree are to complete (108) credit hours as diveded below and to fulfill all other requirements.
a)(91) Credit hours covering (32) compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
b)(17) Credit hours covering (6) optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.
c) That students have the course training composed of 30 working days after their lesson terms is obligated.

Profile of The Programme

The aim of the program is to train qualified accountants needed in establishments in both public and private sectors. During their education, the students are trained so as to use latest technology as well as accounting. Those who successfully graduate from the program are awarded a diploma and the title of accountant. The graduates can easily find employment in accounting and auditing companies, accounting departments of the establishments, and banks. They may also set up and run their own business after some time.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the short cycle degree programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the first cycle degree programme with the exam of DGS. At the same time the students complete their educations at the e-learning faculty of Anatolia Universty without the examination.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester s/he is enrolled for. Students who have not attended at least 40% of theoretical courses and 30% of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. Once the student fulfilles the attendance requirements in theoretical courses, no attendance is required if the course is repeated later.
Examinations are generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to conduct the exam in the form of an oral exam, project or assignment on condition that s/he states it on the course information form (syllabus). Examinations are arranged and conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within 1 (0ne) day after the final examinations are over.
