Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a First Cycle Degree in International Trade upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Objectives

The purpose of the Department of International Trade is to train a qualified labor force to accomplish the foreign trade goals of countries by providing students both practical and theoretical knowledge. Growing foreign trade volume and an ever-developing economy have created opportunities for new employment sectors. Because the principles of education that are already widely used can not meet the requirements, some revisions and new approaches in education has emerged. Department of International Trade established by Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, aims to make the students approach to social sciences from an analyticial perspective by avoiding a mere economical education using quantitative methods in economy and  training by offering courses from different fields.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to higher education through an examination based on Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS). TExam is performed once in a year and regulated by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Applicants are admitted to higher education institution with a combination of the OSS score point and weighted high school grade point avarage. 

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Second Cycle Degree are to complete 240 ECTS credit hours as divided below and to fulfill all other requirements.
1-234 Credit hours covering 54 compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
2-2 Credit hours covering 6 optional courses as detailed in the curriculum.
3-The student should do internship, complete the accredited courses in curriculum which are 240 credit hours and educate at workplace for a academic term.
4-Maximum study period to receive First Cycle Degree is 7 years.

Profile of The Programme

Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bucak Zeliha Tolunay Applied Technology and Business School was established in 2006. Education has started in 2008-2009 academic year.  Currently, the school whose total of students is 2070, has Accounting Financial Management, Management Information Systems and International Trade departments. The International Trade has 913 student. The departmant has 5 ass. Prof., 5 lecturer and 1 assistant. In addition to 4-year bachelor's degree, the school has foreign language education for 1 year.

Education in International Trade Department continues 4 year addition to prep class (1 year). The academic program includes history of international trade, international economic and commercial organization, international trade law, foreign trade finance, foreign trade relations of Turkey and foreign trade operations as well as essential subjects about mathematics, economy, law and business. Furthermore addition to obligated english course also another foreign language is educated. Also in addition to compulsary English course, an opportunity to learn a second foreign language is provided. Becouse of developed industry at international level in Burdur, the most important function of the department is to train skilled labor to international business sector. Thanks to considerable specific course, department of international trade students will be more qualified and expert about international trade.  In addition, under this department, if students prefer, they will be educated about foreign language (English). This education gives a privilege to department students.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduated students have opportunity working in local and international trade firms as marketer, logistic director and as executive at the other  fields of companies. They also can be an entrepreneur in global markets.

Access to Further Studies

It is possible for our students to continue a two-year of master program and a four-year of doctoral program at any university having the master and doctoral program of that department after their graduation. A graduate takes master degree and phd degree at management information systems.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

All exams and other activities are graded based on 100 points. The midterm and final exams represent 40% and 60% of the final grade, respectively. However, a student who gets a grade below 30 out of 100 is graded as FF. A student obtaining one of the grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), (CC), (G), and (B) is considered successful in that course. To enter exams, students must meet following requirements that are specifically outlined in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”:

a) Enrolment for the course in question,
b) At least 70% attendance of the course,
c) At least 80% attendance of the practices in the course,
d) Successfully completing practical projects.

Other matters related to learning and exams are given in “Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Regulation for Vocational and Undergraduate Education and Examination”.

Grade conversion is carried out from the 100 grade scale into the Letter grade scale and 4 point grade scale using the table given below for Bachelor’s Degree Programs at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.



*A student with a (DC) or (DD) grade is considered successful if they had a yearly Grade Point Average (GPA) of minimum 2.25 in the given year.
G: Successful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,
K: Unsuccessful in non-credited courses, internship, industry based training, professional orientation program, and the practice,
M: Exempt,
B: Successful

Graduation Requirements

There is no final examination or examination period at the end of an academic year, or at the end of the study programme. There is, however, a final examination and examination periods, i.e., normally takes two weeks and starts immediately after at the end of each semester. In addition to that student is required to complete a degree project and final year dissertation, (taken normally in 7th semester), which follows an oral presentation. In addition, the student is obliged to undertake on-the-job training during a semester.
