Qualification Awarded

Students are awarded with a Short Cycle Degree in Office Management and Secretary upon successful completion of all the requirements in the curriculum programme and fulfilling all other requirements for graduation.

Level of Qualification

Short Cycle Degree

Objectives

At the end of the programme, students will be able to perform the following tasks:
1• As an employee, s/he will be able to carry out the front office activities effectively.
2• As an administrative assistant, s/he will be able to organize the administrative activities.
3• S/he will be able to organize the routine chore of the superior.
4• S/he will be able to arrange the national or international organizations hosted by the enterprise, s/he will also be responsible for making reservations and announcements, welcoming and accomodating guests.

5• As an employee working in the center of the instution, s/he will be able to establish corporate communication effectively.
6• S/he will be able to organize in-company meetings (selection and arrangement of the meeting place, informing the participants about the meeting, providing the executives and the participants with the relevant documents before the meeting, preparing the documents and the information the executive will need, preparing the meeting minutes, announcing the decisions of the meeting to the participants, etc.)
7• S/he will be able to use state-of-the-art office equipment required for a modern working environment.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students' admission to higher education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (ÖSS). The examination is held once a year and is administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates gain access to institutions of higher education based on their composite scores consisting of the scores on the selection examination and their high school grade point averages.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our University have the right to request the recognition of their prior learning at different universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of their registration year.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The requirements for getting Short Cycle Degree are to complete 120 ECTS credits as listed below and to fulfill all other requirements.
a. 101 ECTS credits covering (26) compulsory courses as detailed in the curriculum.
b. 19 ECTS credits covering (8) elective courses as detailed in the curriculum.
c. Students are required to do an internship for 30 days at the end of the semestre.
d.Maximum study period to receive Short Cycle Degree is 4 years.

Profile of The Programme

The aim of this programme is to equip the students with the skill to work as executive assistants or secretaries. Graduates of the programme are entitled as members of profession and they are given the opportunity to train themselves both theoretically and practically.

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The occupational profiles of the graduates contain:
• Professional readiness and level of professional adaptibility to conditions and requirements from the practice or basic professional education as the precondition for departmental study.

Access to Further Studies

After completing the short cycle degree programme, it is possible for the students to continue with further studies in the first cycle degree programme on condition that they pass the vertical trasfer examination(DGS).

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester s/he is enrolled for. Students who have not attended at least 70 % of theoretical courses and 80% of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. Once the student fulfills the attendance requirements in theoretical courses, no attendance is required if the course is to be repeated later.
Examinations are generally in written form. However, the instructor of the course may decide to conduct the exam in the form of an oral exam, project or assignment on condition that s/he states it on the course information form (syllabus). Examinations are arranged and conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within five days after the final examinations are over.

Graduation Requirements

The graduation requirements of Office Management and Secretary Department are as follows:
To complete the courses required for graduation successfully within the time period defined in the related regulation and to finish the study programme with the GPA of at least 2.00. To do an internship for at least 30 working days.
