Health Management
Qualification Awarded

Successful completion of the program, the program will be awarded a Bachelor' s degree and gain competencies in the field of Health Management science

Level of Qualification

Once the program is successfully completed, undergrate degree in Helth Management is gained and Health Manager title is obtained.

Objectives

Department of Health Management aims to educate highly qualified health management professionals for the health sector with both undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes. The graduates are expected to have developed a professional identity and personality by all means. They are also expected to be the ones who have self-confidence , knows the World and his/her country well, adopt contemporary and universal values, are curious and willing to learn for more; have the knowledge, ability and the ideal to administer health care institutions, use foreign languages very well; have the spirit of entrepreneurship directed to production; have developed communication and leadership skills necessary for his/her profession.

Specific Admission Requirements

In order to enroll this department, a student has to fulfill all legal requirements and pass the exam that is organized by ÖSYM. Any student, who has already started an equivalence degree program in the country or abroad can apply for transferring the department. All transfer requests are considered individually at the beginning of the term. 

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

According to Turkish regulations and rules in higher education, it is only possible to recognize formal prior learning of transfer students from different universities, coordinated by the “Adaptation Commission”, according to the regulations set by The Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students studying in this undergraduate program are reqired to have a the minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 240.

Profile of The Programme

The information provided in the four-year undergraduate education of the Department of Health Management is generally theoretical. The teaching language of the program is Turkish. The Department of Health Management has four departments. These;
Management and Organization in Health Care Institutions Department
Accounting and Finance Health Care Institutions Department
Health Economics and Policy Department
Performance and Efficiency in Health Care Organizations Department

Program Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this program, the students will be able to;
 1-  To have knowledge about theoretical and practical information related to the field of health management and to be able to implement this knowledge
 2-  To gain knowledge and skills on understanding, analyzing and directing administrative, financial, technical and medical process of health organizations.
 3-  To have knowledge and skills on managing information systems on health management and to be able to effectively us it.
 4-  To understand basic elements of health system in national and international level, to comprehend health planning and health policy, to analyze health sector economic and financially.
 5-  To have knowledge and skills to make quantitative and qualitative analyses in health management and to be able to implement this knowledge.
 6-  Critical and innovative thinking in problems faced during health management process, having the ability to use scientific methods and technics in decision making and problem solving.
 7-  Following the changes in the field of health care management and have the ability to provide specific solutions related health care system of the country.
 8-  Having the ability to conduct effective communication and teamwork
 9-  Being aware of legal, social and ethical responsibilities, comply with the legal regulations and ethical principles of health management area.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates of this department take charge in public or private sector. They can take charge in department of account and finance, human resources department, marketing department and patient relations department of healthcare institutions. They also have chance to be employed as a supervisor or specialist at several public institutions notably Ministry of Health and Social Security Institution

Access to Further Studies

Students graduating from this program can apply to study in master's and doctoral programs.

Examination Regulations, Assesment and Grading

Each student must attend the courses, applied studies, laboratories, projects, seminars, workshops, graduation projects and other studies of the semester she/he is enrolled for. For each course, one midterm is done at least. Examinations are conducted by the instructors teaching the courses. If a student does not take midterm exam, she/he takes FF. If a studenst does not fulfill the attendance obligation or she/he fails the application, she/he takes DZ. The contribution of midterm on grade is 40 %, final exam's is 60 %. While students that take AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are successful, those took DZ, FD and FF are unsuccessful. Locations and dates of midterm and final exams will be announced fifteen days before by relevant unit.Students who have not attended at least 70 % of theoretical courses and 80 % of applied and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exam of those courses. A make-up exam is given to students with certified excuses accepted by the relevant executive board within make-up exams week after the final examinations are over.

Graduation Requirements

Students of health management department have to take course 240 ECTS credits and be successful to graduate.

Graduates who successfully complete this program;
